Jamie Romanet

In my practice, I excavate various emotions, stored thoughts, and experiences by working in the spontaneous and dream-like arena of watercolour, ink, and pastel. Intentionally expressing human emotion through facial expressions alone, and leaving out place, these figures could be anywhere and are interconnected by their emotional world.

With an intimist and poetic style the small-scale work aims to draw the viewer in and create an introspective space. Here we may awaken one’s subconscious and connect the subjects not only with this world, but the other unknown mysterious world that surrounds all of our human experience. The work seeks a spiritual realm and it is an iteration, a reincarnation, and a hope.
