Caves: the home we all came from; the walls we first painted on. Long a symbol of the heart and also the maternal; they are sites of a push-pull relationship between the light and the darkness. Emanating from within my cave are these small paintings — my echo.
In my painting practice I look to excavate and mine my inner geography to reveal existential truths and purge myself of various anxieties, fears, stored thoughts and experiences. I am particularly interested in the small format, having a penchant for 8 x 8 inches, which act like a small window into my internal world. The works are an iteration, a reincarnation, and a hope to draw the viewer into an intimate world where we may communicate about our human experience.
